Transportation from Knucklas to Devon, Another Martin Dewar Pony Sold.
We bought Tinker from Martin and found him extremely helpful throughout the whole process.
Very prompt answering queries. When we came to try Tinker he put her through her paces and proved she was totally bombproof.
He was also very helpful arranging delivery at a specific time and made the sale very easy.
I would definitely bear him in mind when we are looking for a Horse for me!
Much appreciated. Abby Fearon.

Transportation from Oswaldtwistle to Leahurst hospital
My welsh mare needed to go to leahurst for an mri scan and I chose martin to take her from the internet because of the testimonials from other people and now I am writing one of my own.
My mare is a bad loader and my nerves were in tatters even before she went in. Which she did without a problem and she travelled the best she ever has. She is usually wet through but was bone dry when we unloaded her!
We had to stay at leahurst for quite a few hours waiting while the horse was being treated and martin offered to wait with us. He was great company making us laugh and sharing his horse tales.
My mare went in first time to come home and again travelled really well all of us home safe and sound.
If she needs further treatment at Leahurst I wouldnt hesitate to contact Martin again and would recommend him to anyone, He is a great guy that is very good at his job.
Thanks Martin for making the day stress free for me and under the circumstances really quite enjoyable!

Transportation from Littleborough to Ramsbottom
I had made the difficult decision to sell my young Arab, who had not been transported since he was six months old, the buyer had access to a trailer to collect him however given he was now a five year old and had not travelled I was very concerned and asked if Martin could take him as I felt a heavy goods Scania wagon would be safer for my Arab. Martin was a consummate professional and loaded my horse calmly and safely without any fuss or stress to my horse. He travelled really well and unloaded peacefully and unstressed for his new owner. I would have no doubts in recommending MRD Horse Transport to anyone to transport their horses and was really pleased with the whole experience for my horse, and myself. By the way I have been desperatly looking for someone like you Martin, wink wink.

Transportation from Wales to York
Martin moved my daughter's new pony from Wales to York. His name had been passed to me by recommendation as someone who had a reputation that was second to none. From first contact I found Martin to be open and honest with a good sense of humour and a keen interest in the well-being of the pony - a very different experience from some I have had in the past. Martin looked after the pony, Bob, as if he was his own which made my daughter and myself very comfortable and relaxed. Bob arrived fresh and comfortable as Martin had broken his journey with a stop at his own yard so that the journey wasn't too long and arduous for a young pony. All in all, I found moving a pony with Martin a stress-free experience that came at a good price and would certainly use MRD Horse Transport services again. Many thanks Martin from Ali, Bob and Tiggy.

Transportation
Martin has provided transport for me on two occasions both in which I needed help at short notice which he was available offering a reliable first class service. My horse had been a difficult loader for years and Martin sucessfully helped him overcome that and now the horse will trot into any box or trailer without any hesitation. I was very impressed with the service Martin offered and would strongly recommend to others particulary those with loading difficulties. Martin is a genuine, friendly and professional business man with excellent horsemanship. You will not find a better horse transporter.

I would just like to say thank you to Martin for all of his help, patience and understanding in my quest to find the perfect Horse,
after having a bad experience of buying a Horse, and it being completely mis-sold to me.
Martin listened and understood what I was looking for! He found me the perfect Horse in George and I'm thrilled with him!
The after sale communication and service has been great too! Highly recommend. Thank you so much, Amy Lowe.

Transportation of TBX Friesian
Well i spoke to Martin on the Monday he accomodated me immediatley i was booked in to move my TBX Friesian on the Tuesday morning.
After trying for three hours at the weekend to load my new horse to take her to her new yard i thought all was lost i really thought i would have to ride her there! until i met Martin he was a great guy really laid back and reassured me that it would be fine he was right.
My horse loaded after twenty minutes all the time Martin kept his cool never used whips or force - just simply reassurance and skill.
Once my Mare was loaded to my dismay Martin unloaded her well i thought we wouldnt get her back in! sure enough she went in and out several times and in the end trotted in happily!
I was very impressed with the total service from beginning to end great guy, great wagon and steady driving what else do you need! Thank you, all the best.

Transportation From Hasslington to Worsthorne
This is to thank you for your assistance in transporting the pony (Lucky) to Worsthorne on Saturday morning. Your understanding of the situation and professionalism help in a long way to resolve the matter with the seller of the pony. We are first time buyers, and are new to the equine world. Me and my wife were sold not a first pony for my daughter but a second pony - too young and unpredictable and a lame one too. With Martin's experience he could see that the pony was lame on the back, in his words, he said there was a pin gone, this was also backed up by a vet, hind quarters not level and lame on the back. We paid Martin to take the pony back and paid him extra if he could get our money back, we arrived at Worsthorne, and straight away Martin told the sellers of their bad sale, I can't repeat his words or even type it, but we got our money back for sure. We also got a serve telling off by Martin, his words were "Next time you buy a pony get it well and truly f**king Vetted if your paying that sort of money." He was right. I hope that other people that deal with horses will take a leaf from your professionalism and logistic support. Many thanks and I will recommend you to anyone in need of equinne transport.

Transportation of a Gelding
Hi Martin,
A great service provided, and Martin kept me fully informed as to how my gelding was travelling throughout his journey.
Also extremely patient whilst we were trying to load my gelding as he is difficult.
The ladies on the yard were also very impressed and said they would be contacting Martin to carry out their travelling arrangements.
Thanks Martin, I will be calling on your services in the future!

Buying a 14.2hh School Mistress Pony
Just a line to say a big thank you for all your help in looking for a pony for my daughter.
We travelled five hours to look at a School Mistress who went on and reared with my daughter.
You were there picking a pony up for someone else to transport, and you had only seen the pony being led down the lane and had told my friend it was not the one for us.
How right you were! You gave her your card, and I phoned you on the way home, and we met up at Ferrybridge Services to see what you had to say.
And the rest is history; you are now looking for a 14.2hh pony for us. I cant thank you enough for all your help and advice. All the best!

Claire Gibson
Transportation to Crowthorne, Reading
I just wanted to send you a quick message to say thank you for the amazing job that you did with my parents horses. We had had many problems trying to load the pair of them and my father had got it into his head that he would ride one and lead the other to the new yard (roughly a four hour ride). This obviously made my mother very worried due to the dark nights coming so much earlier at this time of year.
From the minute you arrived at the yard you took control of not only the horses but also my mum (in a very polite way may I add ). After only about five minutes you had one on the lorry and the second considering going up to join his mate.
Within an hour we were all at the new yard and in the field.
I really don’t know how to thank you enough as now we can all get on with preparing for Christmas and not worrying about my dad riding when he shouldn’t, my mum panicking about the riding and the loading and the horses getting hurt or just plain being stubborn ( I guess if they weren’t so spoilt and had a few more manners it would be better)
Your cards now have pride of place on the sideboard as if anyone wants to know of good transport for horses your info will be passed their way.
Thank you again for a fantastic stress free move and an amazing job.
Ps my four year old has asked if he can have a horse lorry for Christmas and has been telling everyone at his preschool about the man with the lorry that horses have rides in and have a great time.

I Just wanted to say a massive thank you for not only the most beautiful Horse,
Honora, but all the help, invaluable advice and guidance you provided. You not only delivered the Horse safely but took
the time to explain and demonstrate the foundations I needed to start her ground work training. At no time was the process
rushed and I felt totally at ease with you. I was very impressed with the way you handle your Horses and would highly
recommend you to anyone looking for a Horse.
A big thank you also to Kim for your assistance too. Again thank you to a
lovely man where nothing was too much trouble and I am confident in the knowledge that you will always be there if I ever
need help or advice.
I can't thank you enough, keep up the amazing work. Claire. X

Transportation from Aberdeen to Huddersfield
Just writing to complement MRD horse transport services at the weekend. I called you on Wednesday about the possibility of picking up a pony for me from Aberdeen to Huddersfield. You rang me the following day to say you could and gave us the lowest quote. The pony was picked up and brought straight down on the Sunday.
Tommy arrived totally calm and in excellent condition after a ten hour journey. It was late by the time you arrived and the weather was horrible, everyone tired but you were still chirpy and very professional. Thank you for making the delivery of our new pony stess free, with regular phone calls to let us know how Tommy was doing and also to let us know what the traffic was like. I would definatley recommend MRD Horse Transport service to anyone wanting horse transportation. Thanks again Martin.

Thanks for transporting my horse from north wales to goole nr hull on sunday, thank you for the regular calls on the journey letting me know how he was doing, and again at the end letting me know you'd arrived and he was ok. Transportation from Preston to North Shields
I contacted MRD by email with a request for transport only two days later. I had a response back the same day.
I called Martin and advised I wouldn't be able to confirm until the next day (the day before the journey) and he was very friendly and assured me my horse would be well looked after on his journey.
When Martin arrived I wasn't sure how my horse would react to being transported, as I had just purchased him. Fudge ( my horse) was nervous and wouldn't settle as I waited to load him. Martin came and took him, showed him the ramp and he went straight in. Martin handled him fantastically, assured me he would be fine on the journey and he would settle once he got going. Which he did! They have CCTV in the cab and I was updated throughout the journey on how fudge was. This was great peace of mind for me as he had a four hour trip! Martin unloaded him when he arrived and checked him over in the box to make sure he was OK.
I was very happy with the service and the way he looked after my horse. Martin has a great sense of humour and will put you at ease if you are worried about your horse travelling. I would recommend him to anyone and will be sure to use him in the future should I ever need to move my horse!
Thanks Martin!

Transportation from Llanbrynmair to Knighton Break down of Scania horse transporter
After delivering five horses to Llanbrynmair, one air bag had gone on the cab and the passenger side window of the scania horse transporter had come off the inside of the door and the ramp had slightly buckled. This worried me, so I phoned Scania in knighton - West penine trucks to see if they could fix the problem. I was told to come on in yes they could do the repairs - at an extortionate price which I agreed to reluctantly. The milage from Llanbrynmair to Knighton was exactly 40 miles, but as I used to live near that area I knew a lot people. Anyway, I arrived in Knighton no problem, but needed a sandwich before I pulled in to Scania Knighton - West Penine trucks. Walking back to my lorry with a bacon butty I saw Darrel and her daughter Tamsin, it had been some time since I had seen them both so we had a good chat. I told her about the situation with the Scania horse transporter and how I was going to Scania Knighton - West Penine trucks a hundred yards down the road. Tamsin informed me that her boyfriend was a mechanic and could do the job a lot cheaper. But I was undecided about taking the risk of having my Scania horse transporter repaired anywhere else other than Scania Knighton - West penine trucks, However Tamsin insisted that her boyfriend Duncan Powell was better and so persistent that she handed the phone over to me so I could speak to Duncan myself. He sounded like a very nice lad- but could he do the job? I was then escorted by Darrel and Tamsin to Duncan's yard. I met Duncan and we shook hands - he then had a look at the problems I had with the scania horse transporter. He told me that he could fix it there and then no problem. So I left the horse box and went to Darrel and Tamsin's house - I have known them both for years and I knew Tamsin when she was a little girl. I recieved a phone call from Duncan but he informed me that I would have to leave the Scania horse transporter overnight- due to parts, so I agreed and went about finding a Bed and Breakfast. Darrel would not hear of this and said she would put us up for the night. We had a fantastic meal which Tamsin cooked however her mother Darrel cooked sausage and chips. Tamsin made a lovely cauliflower cheese. The next morning I was feeling a bit rough due to Darrel's sausages and chips and let me tell you having the runs that time in the morning was not funny. I was ill all day. I Went back to see Duncan walking very carefully, to see if the Scania horse transporter was ready and yes it was, and what a bloody good job he had done. Absolutely fantastic machanic- not afraid to get his hands dirty- unlike Scania. I got on well with Duncan and we spoke for a few hours. Duncan, do you remember what you said? You told me you were going to propose to Tamsin before Christmas - I hope you keep your word- you are a lovely couple- go for it Duncan! But don't let Darrel cater for the wedding!

Transportation from Newmarket to Cheshire
When your beloved horse is struck down by an unknown injury you become struck with worry. When I needed to organise transport for my 16h irish showjumping mare to be taken from Newmarket equine hospital back to her livery yard in Cheshire I was not only worried about her physical condition in the aftermarth of her injury but also her wellbeing during the long four hour drive. When I contacted MRD horse transport services I was immmediately put at ease by Martin's professional and friendly nature. I was frequenlty reassured throughout the trip as Martin sent regualr updates on her wellbeing and he could keep a constant eye on her through the CCTV system installed in the horsebox. Punctual and professional, I am very grateful to Martin and will surely use MRD Horse Transport services again. Thanks Martin.

Transportation from Skipton to Bristol
Martin recently transported my mare from Skipton to Bristol. I was concerned about the journey owing to the distance and length of time she would be travelling, but when we arrived she was happy and relaxed. The lorry was safe and secure and the journey went very smoothly, she was not at all tired or stressed when she was unloaded. I would highly recommend MRD Horse Transport Services as a helpful, safe and flexible way of transporting your horse. Your a real star thank you Martin.

Transportation of a potential problem loader
Again Martin has done the deed!!
We first met Martin when he transported a four year old of ours to Darwin to further his education and then again we used Martin to bring back a show horse that had been on lease down country. We contacted Martin again the other week (June 4th 2011)
We have a TB Mare - Ex-racer owned her for over two years now who up until this year had been a perfect loader and travelled with no problems. To cut a long story short we lost our old (young at heart) dearest Connie Pony to strangulation colic in the beginning of april this year, we had to rush him to Leahurst - The TB had been attached to our pony and was her companion out in the field and she had seen him go into the wagon but sadley he did not come home. This is when our problems started. She point blank refused to get back on the wagon a few weeks later but we did manage somehow to get her to go on to a show nearby. Once on she travelled really well with no stress and arrived happily, we had a good day out, perfect manners and very happy in herself until it was time to go home when again she was not going on the wagon point blank and just stood at the bottom of the ramp and would not budge. Offer's of help came which was nice of people but it stressed her out even more to a point where she reared and fell over onto her left shoulder/wither area. Our hearts were in our mouths, it felt like she was down for ages but in reality it was a few seconds. We moved the wagon away from the showground and got her loaded after fifteen minutes with long lines (thankfully). We thought we may have had to stop there all night, but again she travelled really well once on. The next day she had the most horrific swelling and brusing and was feeling rather glum in herself. We had to wait for her swelling to go down before we could take her for x-rays.
Without hesitation we phoned Martin to do the deed but he was going to france that week (Oh no what do we do?) Martin insisted he came the saturday to help load her, well as promised again he worked his magic!! Yes she did have tantrums to begin with but he had her trotting on by herself in the end which was a relief to us all. We practiced every day until we were due to go for the x-rays, touch lots of wood she has been loading first time no problem, also no broken bones but slight damage to her Nuchal Ligament but the scans showed it was already healing, she has been one lucky mare!!
We think her problems began through grief of losing her pal and she developed an anxiety of leaving other Horses, she is a clingy mare but it is something we will have to work on slowly with her.
Again Martin - Thank you a billion times over!
If you are reading this and are having problems don't hesitate, ring Martin, we can't sing his praises enough, he's the first person we'd recommend to anyone who asks.

Transportation from Newport, Shropshire to Presteigne
After being left completely heartbroken by a sudden cancellation on our autistic sons loan horse, we made the decision to buy our own from Newport, Shropshire.
Buying on impulse is never good....especially when we had no transport to get him home!
My husband that evening made friends with "Google" and discovered Martin was only just over the hill from us.
After a phone call on the wednesday evening we arranged for Martin to collect Storm on the Friday.
Being a female travelling on my own with a random male I had never met I was slightly nervous - Not that I needed to be, as Martin was helpful and friendly he soon made me feel at ease! He was also more than accommodating when I arrived at his yard to travel with him with my poorly daughter in tow.
We collected Storm from Newport, Shropshire then delivered him to his new home in Presteigne.
Martin loaded our nervous new recruit with ease and travelled home steadily and safely. I was extremely pleased arriving at Storms destination to see the rear door open to find a calm, relaxed, un-sweaty horse.
Extremely friendly, helpful service can only recommend Martin's service. ( And have )
Many Thanks. Rob. Fiona Allen.

Transportation of potential problem loader in Haslingden
Another amazing session with you! A stubborn, rearing horse not wanting to load was loading within minutes after you arrived. The last boxing session was truly unbelievable ........ my horse now loads sideways, backwards, walks over barrels whilst loading and loads even when barrels and cones are already inside the box virtually filling the space ..... my horse is now a circus performer .. watch out Billy Smart! Martin, its just the way you ride them and also how they're handled whilst boxing. You've taught us sooooooo much. Many thanks again.

I just wanted to say thanks for transporting my horse at short notice. I wasn't sure how he'd load but he went in no problems and I was looking for someone who could handle a horse who wasn't a great loader. I found you very friendly and very knowledgeable and I wouldn't hesitate to use MRD Horse Transport again, a real good horse transporter, nice truck Martin.
Holly Casey
Transportation from Pantydwr to Nantglas
I hired Martin to transport two of our Horses (a 15.2hh Chestnut Cob and a 14.2hh Grey Cob) to a local forestry site for a day of riding. We have never had Horse transport as neither of our cars can pull a trailer and we can’t afford a lorry – so when we found out that Martin would pick us up and take us wherever we wanted to go, we were very excited.
Firstly, I contacted Martin to get a quote for transportation for the next Friday. I was desperate to organize this day of riding for me and my mum as she had been seriously ill over the last year with cancer, and we had found out that she would need more treatment yet. My mum was waiting to hear from the doctors about when she would need to be in hospital, which meant that I couldn’t book Martin in until the night before the ride! Martin was so understanding and helpful with this. He was patient and allowed me to get back to him when I had heard from the hospital regarding mum’s treatment and whether we could go ahead. It took a lot of the stress out of the situation, because he was flexible and understanding.
Once we realised we could go ahead with the day of riding I phoned Martin to confirm and he was at our farm at nine a.m the next morning. He allowed me to choose how the Horses were transported and was quite happy to bring his lorry if it made me more comfortable. However, our two had been in a trailer before so we decided to stick with the trailer.
My Horse was abused as a youngster (he’s only seven years now) and can be very flighty in certain situations, and he’s easily spooked. He had been loaded about three to four times before, but he is a nervous Horse. Therefore, I cannot overstate how pleased I was that Martin allowed me to take the lead in loading him in the trailer, and he let us have as long as we needed. There was no time pressure in the loading, Martin created a relaxed atmosphere that was really calming and helpful. I felt in control of the situation, but also that Martin was there to help if I had any trouble. My Horse, Sammy, loaded really well and I was absolutely chuffed. My mum’s Horse was happy to follow on after that, and they were both quite content inside the trailer. As we’ve never had Horse transport of our own, I was unsure how to secure the horses properly, But Martin took the lead and tied the Horses in safely and made numerous checks to make sure the horses were happy and safe, which was a great reassurance.
Both me and my mum were very pleased with Martin’s driving. It was safe and slow and I certainly thought the Horses had an enjoyable trip. When we got to the destination they weren’t sweating or worked up but just keen to see where they were. Martin gave us the option of how we wanted to unload – through the front or the back. I chose the front because that’s how my horse had been unloaded in the past. We had some issues unloading but I must say that they were completely my fault, and the Horses were absolutely fine. Sammy sort of ran out of the front door because I wasn’t holding him tight enough. I was a bit worried that he wouldn’t be willing to go back in the trailer after that, but Martin read my mind and assured me that after the ride we would load Sammy two to three times to make sure he was happy with it. This was such a comfort. I didn’t want to ruin a horse who was doing so well with loading, and knowing that Martin was willing to give me the time to undo my mistake was brilliant. We had a wonderful ride, all through the forestry and up in the hills. I’m so glad we hired Martin because the whole experience was fantastic. We would never have been able to do this without Martin’s help.
When we got back to where we had left Martin, he was there waiting for us. He was good enough to take pictures for us on our own personal camera – which means we have some wonderful pictures to look at now. We’re going to get a couple framed! I then untacked my Horse and we loaded him again without a problem. We tried to unload through the front door again but Sammy really struggled with this. Martin and I both decided it would be best to unload him backwards. So we got him on the trailer again, and unloading backwards was fantastic. Sammy was a bit frightened of going backwards out of the trailer but he was so well behaved! I think this was because we were all relaxed, we weren’t forcing him in the trailer or in a rush. So he was ready to listen to me and try this new “unloading backwards” technique. It worked wonderfully and Martin had me do it four or five times so that we knew Sammy was happy. It was a great comfort to know that my Horse hadn’t been terribly scarred by my mistake!
It was a fantastic day and I highly recommend using Martin for horse transportation. He is obviously a very experienced, knowledgeable Horseman who doesn’t force you or your Horse to do anything you’re uncomfortable with. His guidance was much appreciated with Sammy, and he made us both feel confident and relaxed. I wouldn’t travel any other way, thank you so much Martin.

Transportation to Somerford Park
Due to unforeseen circumstances with a fault on my horse box I needed transport for a show I had prior arranged. Martin was available at short notice to transport me and my horse providing a professional and reliable service. My horse is a difficult loader and Martin, with his knowledge and experience of difficult horses helped with this. Many other horse transporters had previously tried to help to load the horse but failed to do so. Martin has also transported me and my horse to Somerford Park on a number of occassions and waited during the time I was there. I was very pleased with the MRD horse transport service and would strongly recommend to others with transportation needs.

Transportation from Sussex to Manchester
I bought a new mare and she needed collecting from West Sussex and taking to Manchester. I was told the mare was a nervous mare and did not like traveling and sweated a lot. The mare went in no problem and was in the box for over five hours, she did not sweat up and is no longer afraid of traveling. The box is fully equipped with CCTV and fans. The horses are in very capable hands with Martin. I highly recommend martin and I will definitely use MRD horse transport again. When I'm asked if I know a decent box I always give them Martins number. Fantastic service Martin, thank you.

Many thanks for the service you provided, taking one pony in a twelve horse box to Rochdale Show. Comet arrived in style.
We have already decided to use your service again for the next show in June.
You gave us the impression during 'phone calls and booking on-line that "nothing was too much trouble" and indeed this was the case!
Thanks once again Martin and see you next month.

Transportation from Wakefield to Southport Beach
We just want to say thanks for a great day out, we certainly couldn't have taken our four horses to Southport for a day on the beach without you!
The box was perfect, we got all our tack etc., on it with the horses, although there was probably more items taken than were actually needed...
All the horses were comfortable and travelled well, (my mare had only been on a couple of short journeys in a trailer until this day), and with you at the wheel we felt they were all in very safe hands.
We spent around four hours at Southport and were appreciative that you waited in the wagon all the while we were there.
All in all it was a great day and none of us had any worries about the horses during the travelling,
We would definitely recommend you to friends and would not hesitate to use your horse transport services again.
Many thanks again for a great day!

Transportation from Preston to Manchester
My daughter’s pony has always been difficult to load, and so we were very concerned when recently we had to arrange transportation from Preston to Manchester. In fact I was absolutely convinced that we would not be able to get him into the trailer.
However, from the moment Martin arrived he took complete control of the situation and remarkably within fifteen minutes the Pony was in the trailer, only for Martin to then immediately take him out again! – From that point on the pony was totally relaxed and went in and out on several occasions without hesitation. Martin even took the time to explain to my daughter what to do, and the look of amazement on her face when she was then able to lead him in and out of the trailer without any problem.
I would recommend Martin to anyone looking for a safe and friendly horse transport service.
Thank you again Martin.

Transportation From Whaley Bridge to Leahurt on the Wirral Nr Liverpool
An absolute stunning horse, simply made in heaven. (Martin Dewar)
Whilst on holiday on a late Sunday evening, as a precaution, it was decided that my KWPN Sports Horse should be sent to Leahursts on the Wirral. Martin who is DEFRA registered came to our rescue who had to drive from Rochdale to Whaley Bridge, load, drive to Leahursts in the early hours, unload and then to return home. From the outset, Martin took ownership of the welfare of the horse, giving me the confidence that she was in good hands and would be under full medical attention in the shortest time possible. Although I have not met Martin, I believe that I have somehow made a friend. He was my ‘eyes and ears’ throughout the night reporting to me periodically; always polite, never flustered, always in control. It is very difficult to trust a complete stranger to collect your horse and then disappear into the night … from this experience, I would trust him with any of my horses now and in the future. I wish also to recognise his ‘groom’ who also looked after my horse; and collectively wish to thank you most sincerely for the trouble you took to ensure that she [my horse] was safe and not alone. With gratitude.
Martin Dewar - IMPORTANT!! More horse owners going to Greenwood, Ellis & Partners at Newmarket Equine Hospital instead of Leahurt on the Wirral Nr Liverpool. Please read this very carefully
I am very upset to report that this poor mare died in what can only be described as a horrific death, completely unrelated to the reason she was admitted to Leahurst Hospital.
The vast majority of people reading this will think that they have an amazing horse but let me stop you there. Each horse is amazing in its own unique way, but this horse is by far the most amazing horse I have seen yet in all my years. When loading this horse, I had to turn on my flood lights because it was very dark and I walked around her four times just to get a full appreciation of her. I couldn't believe what I saw. She had a quality that I have never seen before. The conformation of this horse was perfect with good shoulder and everything you would want in a horse. This horse had everything, and can only be described as “simply made in heaven”.
I have worked with horses all of my life, around the UK and Europe. I have worked for some famous people in the Equine world; Andrew Fielder, Bill Bryne, have transported horses for Robert Oliver and have sold horses to Vin Toulson.
I have transported many horses to and from Veterinary Hospitals and have worked extensively at Ascot Blood Stock Sales, Doncaster Blood Stock Sales and Newmarket Blood Stock Sales, who employ professional leaders. Only today, I was at Greenwood, Ellis & Partners at Newmarket Equine Hospital, transporting a horse. What I saw at this hospital was the pinnacle of equine care and standards. There was extensive security, with cameras positioned so that every horse could be monitored, there was pristine rubber flooring and each stall well padded and framed. Every horse is lead out by two professional leaders, either side of the horse, with a chifney bit. These professional leaders can deal with a horse in a split second if required to do so and they are a joy to watch. I have an advanced certificate in Equine Transport and know that professional leaders, using a chifney bit, must be used when moving a horse from stable to stable, stable to box or stable to stall. It is the Law. It is the expected, professional standard. If one had been in use with this stunning mare, the outcome would have been undoubtedly very different.
In my own experience, I have heard so many horror stories about Leahurst Hospital; very recently I heard of a horse that fell off of the operating theatre table, breaking two legs, and the owner was still charged; and now this [unrelated] horrific death.
Taking stock of my experiences, as a matter of principle, I now refuse to transport any more horses to Leahurst Hospital. In a short period of time since this decision I learn that there is an increasing number of both horse owners and my own regular clients now agree with me, by choosing Newmarket Equine Hospital.
John's horse did not deserve to go the way she did; it is in my experienced opinion that his horse was lost through pure negligence.
Finally, I would like to thank John Hargreaves, even though I have never met him, for such a nice testimonial. I sincerely hope that this horse has not died in vain and that justice will be done. Martin Dewar

Transportation from mid-wales to S W Herefordshire
Martin did an excellent job transporting Mabel, our new Eighteen yr old cob, to our home in Herefordshire. Her old home was well off the beaten track in the Welsh Mountains and it was not the easiest of journeys. We started off by having to negotiate about two miles of narrow single track road full of potholes; subsidence in places; narrow gateways and cattle grids but Martin was unfazed by any of this. Once on the open road we made better progress though not exactly uneventful as along the way we met a stray sheep, a family of pheasants and a runaway dog but we eventually made it home safely. Mabel was calm to unload; she settled straight into her new stable and was soon enjoying a tasty hay net while we went indoors for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, hopefully just as tasty! Martin’s wealth of knowledge and experience of horses, along with his amusing stories made the whole experience stress free and pleasurable; we wouldn’t hesitate to make use of his services again. Thanks you for all your advice Martin and also for phoning the next day to check how Mabel had settled in, it was much appreciated.

An excellent service with utmost care and consideration given to the animals, who arrived in Germany fit and well, looking as good as when they had left us. We can definitely recommend MRD horse transport.

Transportation from Poynton to Stockport, to the Decathlon Pleasure Ride
a note to say thank you for transporting out horses to the Decathalon Pleasure Ride. Zimba is sometimes quite stressed when in a box, as he doesn't travel regularly, but with your professional and calm manner with our horses, they were all absolutely chilled when we arrived! We will definitely use your company again! Right from the booking to dropping us safely home at the end of the day you made the whole business of horse transport easy, leaving us to concentrate on enjoying our day. Thankyou and I will recommend you to everyone.

Transportation from Dorset to Derbyshire
I can definitely recommend MRD horse transport Services. Martin moved my horse from Dorset to Derbyshie and I was more than pleased with how everything went and with how the company handled my four yr. old 17.1 gelding. He was very happy after such a long trip. Care was taken to attend to the small details other companies ignore. After being let down by other companies Martin picked up my horse the day after I rang him. A top class service, Thanks again.

Transportation from South Yorkshire, England to Powys, Wales
I feel so lucky to have found Martin via a Google search, particularly as I wanted somebody familiar with the local roads - when he rang and said he only lived half an hour away I was delighted, and also delighted at how helpful and obliging he was, and after that first phone conversation I felt totally reassured that he knew what he was doing and I could put my faith in him to take good care of my two horses - I loved how he said they would be wrapped in cotton wool!! l had been stressing for months about getting them to their new home, particularly as my ex racehorse hadn't travelled for twelve years.
Martin stayed at our house the night before the Big Move as the hotel he usually stays at when attending the Doncaster Bloodstock Sales had closed down. He arrived about Seven Forty Five p.m. and my husband went and got us a take away (I was far too stressed to be cooking, goodness knows what I'd have ended serving up.... nothing edible that's for sure....) We have two big hairy spoilt Alsatians, and Martin made the assumption they were well trained (DOH....). He put his takeaway-on-tray on the floor whilst he reached for a swig of tea and Tarkus promptly began to help himself, presuming he'd finished !! Unphased, Martin grabbed his tray back onto his knee and the two of them then polished off the remains.
Many people would be horrified by how unhygienic this was, but don't worry, ....... Tarkus is fine ;-)
Martin's technique with horses is a joy to behold - he instils a calm confidence in them and they know instinctively that they can trust him. He is indeed a gifted horseman. I was also impressed with the horse box and how clean it was. He worked really hard on the morning of the move, allowing me to put my rugs, feed bins, wheelbarrows, chicken and rabbit hutches etc into the front kitchen area of the box. Nothing was too much trouble.
Both horses loaded perfectly in Martin's capable hands and travelled well during the five hour journey. We had two stops and despite it being a hot day neither horse was sweating at all. They also unloaded well and he put them in their respective paddocks for me and then I almost collapsed with relief and shock at how text book perfectly everything had gone!!
Martin certainly earned every penny of his very reasonable fee and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him or use him again in the future. I felt like I had made a friend that day - anybody who ensures the welfare and safety of my horses is indeed a friend for life. Also he was very likeable and good company, which was a bonus.
Thank you so much Martin for everything you did :-) Kind Regards, Karen

Just want to say a big thank you for taking Maguire to his new mummy in Essex. I was so upset to be letting him go but you were so helpful and kind. The phone calls really helped letting me know how he travelled as he was on the move to his new home. Knowing you could see him while driving was really good thanks again Martin, if I or anybody need a horse transporting I know where to go! Thanks for an excellent service, you were simply the best. Thanks Martin.

Transportation from Bromsgrove to Rochdale Breaking and Schooling of Belgium warm blood another horse broken by Martin Dewar
I was looking for the best horse transporter at the right price to take my young horse to a stables to be broken in. After filling in a form online, MRD horse transport was the first to get back to me. The few others were so slow in replying and their fees so high, therefore, MRD horse transport got the job. Martin asked me about the breaking and schooling and offered to take Red Apache my belgium warm blood. I explained that the horse had already been away to be broken but only stayed a week as he proved too much of a problem, very sharp and could not be broken. What he needed was quiet, confident, professional care, not rushed but everything taken in its stride. Martin promised he could do all of this- if not more. When he arrived Red was walked up the ramp to a super lorry, and Martin started training him straight away- reloading him to ensure he was comfortable and confident. Martin showed me the CCTV in the cab which meant that he could keep an eye on Red Apache for the duration of the journey. I was informed when they arrived that he had travelled well. The next day he was loaded and unloaded several times until he boxed as easily as an old timer that had been doing it for years. I was constantly updated on his progress and I am surprised just how much he learnt. He is now a forward going, well mannered horse with great paces and no longer barges. I cannot fault anything. I am positive that he wouldn't have got better treatment ANYWHERE.
If I have any more youngsters for breaking I won't have to think about where to send them, They'll go to Martin Dewar's yard. I cannot praise them enough. Very Many Thanks and the highest recommendation.

Thank you for the safe and reliable service you provided me and my horse with on saturday. My horse travelled very well, and being able to watch him on the cctv, put my mind at ease. Your expert help with loading him into the box was also invaluable. Already planning to use your service again and would definitely recommend you to others.

Exchange of Horses between friends
l first met Martin Eight years ago when I purchased my horse from him, who was everything he said he was and more until he recently was put to sleep from an accident and is deeply missed, as horses like him only cross your path once in a lifetime.
A couple of years ago my daughter Paige went out and purchased a very expensive young Irish Sport horse 16. 2 hh Dappled Blue and White Gelding Six years old from a local dealer in Huddersfield which was far too much for her and although he was full of character and lovable he was an absolute nightmare when ridden because he kept bucking her off which progressively became worse over the months and she lost her confidence totally. He had all the checks and apparently nothing was wrong with him so I suggested he be moved on to someone with the experience he required. Paige was not happy and did not wish to sell him to just anyone because she loved the horse and didn’t want him moved on again and again. Paige said ‘’ring Martin Dewar! He’ll be able to sort him out”. So I did out of the blue and asked for his help to maybe buy him cheap and sort him out as we knew if he couldn’t then no one could. Martin spoke to his partner Vicky to discuss a straight swap with her own horse Marco who was older and sane for my daughter, as she wanted a new challenge and her horse would be suited for Paige. We all discussed, agreed and without viewing either horses, on trust alone Martin brought Marco up to Yorkshire on Christmas week and we swapped. Our agreement is that Vicky is going to keep Ironside who I am sure will come right and do well in her hands and we will keep Marco. Great idea and all horses and riders are happy and my daughters confidence is quickly coming back! Nice one Martin and many thanks to Vicky for trusting us enough to hand over your horse of many years. He is well looked after and loved with us and the best of luck with naughty Ironside. We will be coming down there to catch up with you shortly! Keep in touch Vicky Thanks again.
Victoria Whittaker with Ironside
I am pleased to say both horses have done very well in there new homes, It could not have worked out any better.
Ironside is now used on the farm as a stock horse rounding up the sheep, We have also found out he has a tremendous bold jump.
He is a very brave horse indeed, We are planning to get Ironside to some shows next season.

We were very happy with the service provided by Mr Dewar, he looked after the horse well and all its equipment too! And delivered him safely to his destination. We were kept updated as to his whereabouts which was very reassuring and having been given directions, he obviously had no problems finding the place. We would definitely use MRD Horse Transport again if we need to,
many thanks Martin.

Transportation from New Quay to Brecon
Dear Martin
I just wanted to write and thank you so much for transporting our new horse to us here in New Quay, Wales and then taking Basil onto his new home in Brecon. We were so worried about Basil loading since he refused to get into our box. Trying to load a ton of horse that doesn’t want to was proving too stressful for us.
You gave me such confidence on the phone I knew you were the man for the job.... I did warn you how big he was ! You handled him confidently and respectfully and made the whole process as stress free as possible for us.
I have no hesitation in recommending your services to other.
Thanks again and kind regards.

Transportation from Bleddfa to Bridgnorth
Thanks again for moving my mare Lucia from Knighton to Bridgnorth yesterday. She has not travelled often, and can be both claustrophobic and highly strung. I knew I had chosen the right person for the job as soon as I met you. Your calm leadership was the perfect antidote to my anxiety around the trip, And I could not believe how well Lucia loaded and travelled - she didn't even break a sweat! I loved the way that you really took your time to make sure that she was one hundred percent happy to be on the lorry, I am sure that the calm journey has contributed to her settling very well into her new home. I would be very happy to recommend your services to anyone who needs their horse transporting - I would describe you as a professional with a deep understanding of horse's needs - calm, assured and relaxed. I know my horse would recommend you too!! I have attached a photo of you and Lucia - I love how Lucia is turning to you and looks so soft and relaxed, she never does this with strangers - especially ones who are going to drive her away!!
Thanks again, and best wishes, Lucy.

Horse Riding Lessons and Training
My eleven year old Daughter Emily is a novice rider who thoroughly enjoys all aspects of riding and maintenance of her pony. She enjoys regular one to one lessons with a qualified instructor who helps Emily with her basic riding skills and helps keep Emily and the other girls on our yard with their ground work which is a necessity when entering into the show jumping dicipline.
When Emily experienced a training session from Martin lasting one hour her basic riding skills had improved immensely, he helped her acheive fantastic confidence to move forward into jumping her Pony Jake. Although both Jake and Emily are fairly experienced, Martin helped streamline Emilys riding and rectified potential problems she may face in the furture, encouraging her to take him further and also help to her recognise her potential. Emily is a failrly shy girl, however, Martin insalled a confidence over Emily which encouraged her to trust her trainer, herself and most importantly her pony.
Both myself and Emily would like to take this opportuniay to thank Martin for passing his experience and encouragement onto Emily who is now thorougly enjoying competing this summer in the ring. If Martin had not have been located so far away we would have most certanly invested time to ensure Emily and Jake had regular sessons with Martin, whom I am sure would take Emily onto the next level!

Transportation of Horse to a new home
I'd like to say a 'Big Thankyou' for your help on transporting my horse to his new home on Monday. Without your quick response to come out straight away I'd have lost out on his sale. We were begin to despair as to whether we'd ever be able to move him - you came along & he went straight in the lorry no problems! Thanks for a brilliant, efficient & friendly service.

Just a quick note to thank you for the fab service with my boys today. It was truly a pleasure to watch Martin work and I felt very confident letting him handle my boys.
Martin came to help me out with my two geldings, who had already failed to load on a previous occasion. His approach to the horses was calm and considerate and he had them loaded within half an hour of first meeting them. They travelled comfortably in his excellent spacious lorry and were chilled and happy at the end of the journey.
I would recommend Martin for anybody’s loading problems/transport requirements, his approach to the horses is fantastic, but he also makes the humans feel involved but not stressed with the proceedings.
Thanks again.

Transportation of potential problem loader - Loading and travel training clinics with Martin Dewar.
Dear Martin, thank you for one of your loading and travel training clinics day, with myself and daughter Laura, with one stubborn horse called Stippy (stable name). Although I can tell you I have called him a lot worse than that. Fact.
A horse not wanting to load was loading in minutes after you arrived. Stippy now goes in and out of the horse box with no issues. We had one year out because of Stippy's loading problems, but thanks to Magic Martin we are well and truly sorted. And thank you for coming at such short notice. Thanks again Martin from Mel and Laura Daly. But no thanks from Stippy.

Transportation from Bromsgrove to Grange-Over-Sands
I needed to transport our daughter's lease horse from Worcester back to his owners in Cumbria and was recommended to phone Martin at MRD. What a great recommendation! Martin was courteous, prompt, with a wealth of knowledge and compassion for horses. He has a great sense of humour. Martin is extremely professional and continuously monitored our mare on the camera in his lorry. He then relayed how well she was traveling to me which allayed any worries I may have had. I would not hesitate to book Martin again and would highly recommend him to anyone. Keep up the good work Martin, it was really good to met such a sincere, genuine and trustworthy guy.

Transportation From West Yorkshire to Surrey
Just a quick note to thank you so much for the efficient and caring transport service you provided us with last week. Our daughters’ Arab Mare had a long journey to make from West Yorkshire down to Surrey but she arrived calm and in great condition. Despite the length of the journey she was not at all stressed and unloaded well and could not wait to get to her new home.
Thanks again for stepping in at the last minute after we had been let down by other transporters. We now know who to call the next time.

Transportation of a potential problem loader in Haslingden
I can't thank you enough for the work you did today. I was honestly speechless as you managed to box Addy not really a problem loader but we needed reassurance. I really did think you had a challenge on your hands but you had him boxed, all ramps up within half an hour! You taught me a great deal on horsemanship and how to manage him when he's bargy or needs telling who's boss (that's me by the way ;D).
We phoned you up in the morning and you came that day too... Superb handling on your part I must say. We were travelling no problems along the motorway within an hour. A thing which was unexpected but really did happen!
I would recommend Martin and his fantastic driver Mick to anyone with a problem loader or if they just wanted some guidance in loading their horse.
I'm looking forward to seeing those red rosettes pinned up in his stable :DD
Once again, thank you a lot. I never thought that day would come :')
Many thanks,

Transportation from LLandegley to Heyope
Martin came to my rescue after needing to move 2 horses locally (18 miles each way) one of which can be a bit of a cowbag
to load.
Martin turned up with his trailer, On time and got the horses in the trailer hassle free (while I'm a bag of nerves because it's blowing a gale and
I'm adamant someone's going to get killed) horses travelled beautifully and Martin helped to unload the horses and even drove me back to my car.
During the journey I'd been explaining how nervous I was about getting back onto my mare due to some behavioral issues on the ground.
Martin reassured me that my horse would be fine if I just jump on, Low and behold, The next day I plucked up the courage and did just that,
She was PERFECT.
Would definitely recommend MRD Horse Transport to anyone, Thank you very much Martin!

Transportation for family stables
I have known Martin Dewar for three years, where in Martin has successfully executed numerous horse transportations for my family stables. Martin has always provided professional and reliable service with a friendly and informed attitude. When working with horses Martin has a natural ability and understanding of horses individual needs. He has a compassionate and patient method of working with horses, skills of a true horseman, which are rare to find but essential for any equestrian team to be successful. Martin works well in a team but also shares the quality with a strong ability to lead a team. Over all I feel Martin’s skills, knowledge and temperament with horses would be of a great asset to any horse transporting team.

Transportation from Southport to Wigan
A big hello to Mr Ronnie Davies from Grange Stables, Hindley, Wigan. A legend in his own right with shire horses. From one horseman to another, I salute you. From Martin Dewar.
Just to say a HUGE thank you for transporting my new horse Pandora yesterday at such short notice.
As you know, she was an impulse buy from a lady who was emigrating to Australia. I was told that she may not box easily, and found out to my avail on Tuesday night when she refused to box in a trailer.
As promised you collected her, loaded her with no fuss and kept me informed the whole journey, whilst I was unable to get away from work. She arrived calm and relaxed, and to my surprise she walked in and out of the box around ten times!! Once with me.
I was so relieved to have her home. I have to say as well that I only contacted you on the morning of the move in desperation and you said yes immediately.
Also you were a huge hit with the owner of our yard, Ronnie, who couldn’t stop talking about you after you had gone! I am sure that you will be back as many people were impressed with your skills, no one more so than poor Chris who also spent four hours in the rain trying to load Dora, she couldn’t believe it. Thanks again and I will definatley recommend you to all my colleague and friends.

Horse Transport M.R.D, Well what can I say.. Service fit for a king. Absolutely fantastic! Martin had the task of separating me from my beloved nineteen yr old 17.3 hh suffolk punch, I knew the day was coming and every day leading up to it had me in tears, worrying how my boy might travel as it was an extra long journey for a horse of his size and age. Martin came for Rocky around lunch time, I had been fine all morning, Martin called to say he was Five minutes away, I went and got Rocky and his things, brought them to the gate ready, went down the lane and waved Martin back into the yard, still not a tear in sight and as soon as they turned off the engine of the wagon. Boom. A thunderstorm of emotions, I burst into tears. Poor Martin, all he could say was.." Please don't cry, you will make me cry, everything will be fine I promise." He must have the patience of a saint having to deal with hormonal female horse owners. He calmed me down almost instantly, Explaining things through whilst checking Rocky was fit and well and ok to travel. From there I just knew I could trust him to look after my baby, He gave my boy two stalls for comfort with him being so big and walked him on with ease. He explained how it was a two part journey and Rocky would stay at Martin's yard overnight, approximately two thirds of the way there at Knighton; then travelled on to his new owner the next morning to give him a rest. Martin called me to say he had stopped and refilled the hay nets and to check on Rocky and all the other horses. As he had a full load all going down south and that Rocky was fine, all I could do was smile. My boy was definitely in good hands. How silly I feel .. All the tears and nervousness of him going when I really had nothing to worry about it. I would definitely recommend M.R.D HORSE TRANSPORT to anyone who is looking to transport a horse they love, as the service is very professional and respectful of both horse and owner. Thank you ever so much Martin. I think you have the nicest ass going and I'd really like to pinch it, Well its too late now.. :) Xx.

Transportation from Newcastle Upon Tyne to Llanbrynmair
We had been considering moving to Llanbrynmair, Mid Wales for some time but organizing the move worried us. One morning just before I went to work I searched the internet to help find horse transport, I filled in a form but did not expect any response for some time. Almost immediately my mobile phone rang. MRD horse transport had seen my request and my worries- in particular for my old mare at thirty-one years of age and a little frail. Within minutes he had put my mind at rest and instead of worrying I actually started to look forward to the move. Martin also knew of an ex racehorse that needed a home and some TLC and asked if we would be interested. A phone call to Pedro confirmed that yes we could take Giant Among Men. Martin warned us that due to miss treatment at a racing yard in Doncaster he was in extremely poor condition and would need some work to bring him back to good health. A risk we were happy to take. Martin came up to Newcastle the night before for an early start, his sat nav took him through the centre on Newcastle on a Saturday evening, quite an eye opener! On the Sunday morning Martin arrived at our house soon after six am. It took very little time to load our possessions then we moved on to the livery yard. Martin did an excellent job, loading the lorry was a masterpiece. Nothing was going to shift in transit! Before loading our horses Martin kindly found time to help a friend of ours with a horse she had difficulty loading. After a very short length of time Penny loaded with no effort. We were very grateful that Martin helped Yvonne as she and her partner,Paul, had given us no end of help with the packing in preparation for our move. Our horses loaded with no effort as three of them were used to loading and the fourth, although we had never loaded her in three years, would do anything for a mint. Mini followed Su up the ramp following one mint and she was in. So we could hit the road. Pedro myself and our friend Su who came to help with the horses, followed the lorry in our car. Martin drove considerately for the entire journey. We stopped in Rochdale to pick up Giant Among men, he loaded no problem but we were all upset at how he had been neglected before Martin rescued him. There was another horse with Giant Among Men called Red Apache that was to be delivered to Birmingham on route but this proved no problem either. It was a long day but we arrived around seven with the horses all looking as fresh as when we had started, all travelled without any stress and none of them had sweated at all. We had to walk the horses for the last couple of hundred yards as the roads were unsuitable for the Scania horse box but this was no problem either as Martin and his groom Vicky were exceptionally helpful in every respect. All the horses went in to the field and set about grazing, there was no running around and no stress for any of them, Giant walked through the gate and put his head down to eat (he hadn't moved much the following morning). We unloaded the tack and furniture by the house after the horses were all seen to we finished the day with a very welcome drink in what Pedro calls " the best pub in the world" the white Lion, Machynlleth. Martin and Vicky stayed in Machynlleth overnight but came to check that the horses were all still happy the following morning before they left. Thanks to Martin what could have been a very difficult day went exceptionally smoothly. We would not hesitate to ask him again should we need to move any horses any distance. We would highly recommend MRD Horse Transport for any relocation or horse transport, whatever the distance.
Even after less than a week Giant Among Men is looking much happier, there is a little glint back in his eye and he comes to meet us with the other horses when we go to the field, I think he will be OK now, Thank you Martin for saving this lovely gentle horse. A superb job from start to finish!

Transportation from Gainsborough to Conway
We used MRD Horse Transport to move our horses when we moved house to North Wales. The furniture removal company hopelessly under estimated the volume of the furniture and consequently Martin came to the rescue and carried the remainder of the furniture for us. Without his help we would have been waiting hours for the removal firm to sort themselves out. As regards to the horses, they loaded very well, and travelled better than they have ever done before, arriving well and not stressed. I would have no hesitation in recommending MRD Horse Transport to anyone, though I hope you don't have the stress we had, and have to rely on Martin the way we did!
Thanks for your help Martin, excellent service, competitive price, great bloke!

Buying a Horse From M.R.D Horse Sales
We went to try a Horse at M.R.D Horse Sales. Both Martin (the owner) and Chloe (the rider) were very friendly and accommodating. They had no problems in answering our very long list of questions about the Horse
Red Apache 16. 2 hh, Dutch Warmblood X TB we had come to try.
After the Horse had been ridden by Chloe, My fifteen year old son got on and 'tested' Red Apache out.
He was everything Martin had said he would be. My son had a really good try on Red Apache including jumping, with martin coaching my son over some big Fences.
and going through the streams and around the fields and having a good gallop at the end.
Martin was happy for us to try whatever we wanted on him and was quite happy for us to come back, if we wished, as many times as we wanted to.
It was a really good experience and very refreshing to be allowed to spend as much time as we liked without feeling pressured.
I would absolutely recommend M.R.D Horse Sales for somebody who is looking for a genuine Pony / Horse. I felt he was very honest, Open and a very genuine person.

Transportation from Castleford to Daventry, Riding Club Horse Trials Championships.
Hi Martin thanks again for getting me and 'Dolly' down to Daventry for the Riding Club Horse Trials Championships. After breaking down just off the M62 Nr Castleford, our spirits were really low, we thought we would not be competing at the championships as we weren't even half way. We were over the moon when you turned up in your lorry to take us on the rest of the way. You loaded all our luggage (there was loads!) and Dolly, and us up and off we went. Dolly travelled really well and got there as 'fresh as a daisy' despite having been in a lorry for nine hours by then. We did really well at the two day competition, the team coming 5th and me coming 9th, a great acheivement considering at one point we didn't think we would get there. I will be recommending you to everyone and wouldn't hesitate to phone you if i need a horse transported again, in better circumstances I hope!!

Transportation of a rare Cleveland Bay mare from Stockport to Sheffield
Martin was recommended to me by a friend and he exceeded expectations. Professional, informative and punctual in dealing with the business aspects and also calm, clear and organised with the actual loading process. In terms of previous history, the mare had travelled in my trailer on two short (< five mile) journeys and had arrived very sweaty and uptight. For this reason a lorry was the only option for the longer journey. She wouldn't load for bribery with carrots and so with the aid of two lunge lines on the ground we created a channel and she went in and out several times before finally being tied up. I particularly liked the logical approach, for example rattling the partitions so the horse would get used to the noise, re-checking inside several times before setting off and a progress update whilst on route and also upon arrival. The mare arrived in perfect condition, not a bead of sweat in sight !! I would happily recommend Martin to anyone.

Transportation of injured Horse
I have known martin for a number of years and just recently one of our horses injured his back leg very badly and required a visit from the vet followed by surgery. For this we required transport, and Martin was called. Every thing went well with the operation and a few days later martin and myself went to pick up our horse. After loading we received instructions for after care, involving a course of injections. Martin instantly volunteered his services and we gratefully accepted. Martin turned up every day at the same time to administer the injections and exercise to prevent stiffness, and Martin even took it upon himself to clean and inspect the wound in his own time. The horse never even flinched when martin administered the injection. All the after care Martin donated free. A true professional caring person, I would recommend Martin to any one!

Cross country clinic day 12th December 2009 at Hemmoor (Germany) with Martin Dewar
I heard of a clinic day in a riding school from the newspaper in Germany and decided to take part because one of my ponies Cindy loves jumping and it's always great fun to work with her. I give riding lessons myself and I'm always interested in new aspects to learn. Cindy is a very good pony (14.1hh Connemara), but there was always a problem with her loading into a trailer. She is afraid of the transporter only because she doesn't want to. I already fed up with this, because no horse is perfect and Cindy can do a lot of things very good. I decided to ride Cindy from our home to Hemmoor one day before the Clinic started, what was a trip of thirteen km and took us about two hours. But that was no problem we kept smiling and named it a trekking tour.
On Sunday we took part in the cross country clinic and learned the differences between show jumping and cross country. I was immediately told by Martin to put my stirrups up to ride shorter for cross country. There were only three riders in my group, we learned a lot of things and had a lot of time for practising the different kinds of jumps and learning how to approach each jump. After this I felt a bit tired and my head was full of the new cross country training ideas and I did not feel like riding two hours back home again. Martin told us that he would be able to load my pony, but I wasn't sure if this was right, because other people told me the same things in the years before and nobody had managed to put my mare in a trailer in four years. I was very surprised and happy that Cindy loaded into the trailer three times with Martin. Now I have to keep on practising with her until she likes going in a trailer as much as jumping.

Transportation from Oldham to Bristol
We would just like to say a big thank you to Martin for the safe horse transportation of our new palomino mare, Tilly. We bought her in Oldham and she had a long journey down to Bristol. She arrived totally relaxed and in excellent condition. We would not hesitate in recommending MRD Horse Transport to anyone wishing to transport their horse or pony either on a short trip or a long distance. Thanks again Martin.

Transportation of potential problem loader
Dear Martin, We can't thank you enough for today (Friday June 18th). We could have not wished to have met anyone more friendly and nice as yourself.
I had been having nightmares and sleepless nights over our four year old travelling for his first educational start in life. He had never travelled before as I was unable to load him on our wagon myself. After many hours of trying it becoming too stressful for me and him. After much advice from people in methods that we did not want to try, and numerous phone calls out of the phone directory to unconcerned horse transporters, we came across your website.
After our first chat I felt very reassured in the advice you gave me. Friday came and after meeting you I knew that I had made the right choice. After potraying a demon horse he proved me wrong as he walked straight onto your wagon for you (no brutal forceor special gadgets). He stood up tied up while you had a coffee and then off again, then back on, then back off. This continued for a while and in the end he was more or less walking in himself. He was so relaxed about it that when the crunch time came and you said to try our wagon, I thought this is it! he will react now!. Well the little sod got on and off and on again.
Next you made us move our wagon into and open field with no sides for help this time and yes! he was was on and off without any fuss and was actually enjoying it. You even went out of your way and helped us with another horse who was not going anywhere but I had mentioned she can be fussy. Straight away you said while you were here we might as well try her, so you brought her out of the box and onto the wagon with no fuss. I think I recall calling you a miracle man!
The time came for worzel to be taken to his destination and he went straight back on your wagon and off you went. At the end of the journey he had travelled very well with no problems at all and came off very nicely! no sweat up or panic.
I will recommend you to anyone who had problem loaders, your patience and knowledge are a credit to you. You have given my daughter and I a lot more confidence in just watching your ways and through talking with you that I would not be able to gain anywhere else. You even rang us up that night to see if we go home safely. The service from start to finish was amazing. We could have not wished to meet a nicer man than yourself and after and entertaining afternoon of chat and laughter we will always be grateful. We now have your number on speed dial for whenever we may need your assistance again as you will be the first we call. Anyone who has problem horse, even if not just for loading, you are the guy people should be looking to.
Many many thanks and take care. Sharon and Farrah

Transportation from Doncaster Bloodstock Sales to Suffolk
I recently bought a yearling from doncaster sales and had tried in vain to find transport to Suffolk. Thankfully I was introduced to Martin Dewar. Martin couldnt have been more helpful towards me in going five hundred miles out of his way to deliver my filly the next day. Martin took great care of my filly whilst at the sales ground with hay and water. I found Martin to be an extremely nice guy with a professional attitude and would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking for an honest professional transport service.
Many thanks Martin it would have been a long walk home!!!!!!

Transportation from Halifax to Narberth, Carmarthenshire
I was recommended this transport services M.R.D Horse Transport by the seller of the horse I just purchased.
I rang up M.R.D Horse Transport services and found Martin to be friendly and accommodating, he mentioned that he had a space on short notice at very good competitive rates which suited me so I took it. When Martin arrived at the new horse location he inspected the horse to make sure that it was fit to travel and also for me, as I bought it sight unseen.
On route Martin kept me informed on the horses journey, they reached their destination where my horse stayed overnight at M.R.D Transport services at their large, airy and welcoming stables; where they were fed and had plenty of hay. The next morning my horse arrived refreshed, not fatigued from the journey, again Martin at MRD transport kept me informed of their journey
l found their lorry was large and accommodating with plenty of room for a 17.3 hh horse down to an 11.2 hh pony.
l have no qualms in recommending the services of M.R.D TRANSPORT run by Martin Dewar, yours faithfully Simone Bowman - Whiting.

Transportation from Wigan to Bath
Martin transported a horse for me from Wigan to Bath and I was very happy with the service he gave. I was very worried that my horse would not behave throughout the journey but Martin soon put those fears to rest and the horse behaved brilliantly throughout the whole journey. I would highly recommend MRD Horse Transport services to anyone who needs a horse transporting. It is certainly worth every penny and I would definitely use MRD Horse Transport again. Transportation from widnes to Essex
Thank you for taking such good care of our new horse that you picked up for us in Cheshire. It was a long journey to Essex but Maguire looked very relaxed and in good shape when he arrived some seven and a half hours later. Martin kept myself and his previous owner updated on route and I felt that Maguire was in very good hands.
Martin was very professional and he gave a first class service and I would not hesitate in using him again.
Thanks Martin hope it didn’t take too long getting home on Monday evening.

Transportation from Ashbourne to Aberdeen
Well I dont know quite where to start, I am so chuffed with MRD horse Transport services and the way our new young Arab Paresh came off your wagon, not at all stressed with his first trip in a lorry at the age of 2yrs old, his old owner sang your praises as well, of your handling and your calm and gentle approach to loading a baby who had never before been loaded.
I would highly recommend your service to others who want a great guy who knows what he is doing and who isn't worried about booking a horse who has never travelled, unlike some others who only give you a small window to get them loaded and if you havent got them loaded in that time they leave you stranded.
I was so impressed with MRD Horse Transport Services, that after Martin and his groom had stayed the night and before heading back down the road to England, that I asked jokingly for Martin and his groom to take our pony Eskvalley Olympian to a dressage competition that we were due to attend that morning at Waulkmill Show Center, Ellon, in style in the big wagon, to which Martin said he would be quite happy to do it, so we loaded all our gear into the wagon, and climbed on board, I can happily say I would let Martin take any of my horse's on his lorry, he drove beautifully and smoothly and gave my pony a loveley journey to and from the show, and it was an added bonus for my daughter Jemma to win one of her classes and was second in her other test.
Thank you both again for taking such great care of our boy

Transportation from Clun, Shropshire to Halifax, Yorkshire and back
My horse Keith was lame and following X rays our vet advised an MRI scan in Halifax. I wanted to find someone locally who could take Keith to Halifax and rang Martin. He not only knew the practice in Halifax but also fully endorsed my vet’s recommendation to go to Hird and Partners for the scan. The appointment in Halifax was for ten am on Monday and so Martin had to leave us at five am to be there on time. We live down a narrow lane and to ensure everything went smoothly Martin came round to do a dummy run the previous Saturday. His five horse box truck was immaculate both inside and out. Keith can get stressed when on his own so Martin provided a companion pony to keep Keith company. What could be better than that! On Monday he arrived with his box and loaded Keith. He travelled very well with his new friend Rory, a very nice Connemara pony and Martin rang me several times along the route to reassure me that Keith was calm and happy. Martin stayed with Keith when he had his scan, then brought him back here the same day. The whole operation which could have been so stressful for man and horse went very smoothly and I feel very lucky to have found Martin. I can highly recommend Martin from M.R.D Horse Transport to anyone who is looking to transport horses. Best wishes Suzanne Stevens.

Transportation from Waterfoot to Padiham
The weather was calm, Martin arrived as faithfully promised right on time. I was a bit nervous as our horses had been in a horsebox once in seven years. No need to worry, we took our time and Martin was calm and advised us and we loaded with no problems. Martin then set off slowly while the horses found their travel legs, he drove very well and professionally, we arrived at the stables and unloaded the horses, they were fine. We Found Martin to be really helpful, kind, pleasant and really good on the price. I was quoted some silly figures elsewhere, Martin was exremely fair on his price and he did an excellent job. I would definitely have him again to move our beloved horses, trust him entirely. Grand x

Transportation of Horses to new yard
Hi Martin,
I want to say 'Thank you' for safely transporting my horses on the three hour journey to their new yard. I felt relaxed knowing that I could see the horses on the cctv. I am pleased that I chose you over other horse transporters advertised on the internet. They arrived safe and sound without one little bit of sweat which to me shows they were at ease. I feel you always had the horses best interest in mind while driving.
I would quite happily recommend you to others.
Thanks again.

Transportation of yearling from Doncaster Bloodstock Sales
It's nice to see there are still people who take their work seriously and have pride in what they do.
It is a very traumatic experience for any young horse to be taken away from its normal surroundings, and making the journey as relaxed as possible makes all the difference to both horse and owner.
We thank you for the care and attention you showed and you are assured of our future custom.
Many thanks!

Horse transportation from England to Germany
Hello Martin, just an email to say thanks for all your work you did for us. He did much more than he had to do for us. He arrived in our stable in Germany on Thursday morning with the four ponies we bought in England, none of these we had acctually seen untill he arrived, Martin inspected them for us in England and we took his word for it, we were obviously a bit nervous as the horse box was opened and the ponies were unloaded, however we were quickly put at ease, the ponies looked very relaxed and had been in good hands. Martin had described the ponies as daisy cutters, this was 100% correct, they were as described.
Martin stayed untill Sunday evening with us to pay for his keep. He did a few lessons for us, cross country and flat work, overall over twenty of our riding students took lessons from him, everyone of them keeps asking me when he is coming back, and the parents who watched. Martins approach was different from ours but very good, the kids were always smiling and having fun.
Martin also helped us with two problem loaders, one a connemara mare who would not get on a trailer, not because she was scared but once on the ramp would close its eyes and pretend to sleep, the owner was convinced that it was impossible, so much so that she rode her horse here, a mere fifteen miles.
Needless to say the horse was on the trailer within ten minutes, Martin also unloaded her and did it again to show the owner what to do, no whips were used, just a steady hand and I presume years of experience.
It was a pleasure to have Martin here, I know I can trust Martin with my money to get me top quality ponies and deliver them in a professional maner, I will also add that Martin sorted out all the paper work for the export which was no lean task.
I could not have asked for anymore, the service provided was way beyond our expectations.
Thank you Martin form all at Reitsportzentrum Hemmoor.
Thanks again.

Transportation of potential problem loader Chestnut Mare from Ramsbottom
I have a five year old warm blood mare who would not box and had no manners she used to rear and on one occasion banged her head on the top of the trailer, and on another occasion banged into a car, I lost nights sleep I was at the end of my tether and in tears she was about to be sent away for schooling, A friend gave me Martins number and when I called he reassured me he could help and not to send her away. He arrived within a couple of days of me ringing. Martin spent four hours with my mare and the results are amazing, now she does not want to get out of the box, he also gave my daughter an hours lesson and she learnt more in that hour than she did private tuition in a month. I would recommend Martin for transport and any problems anybody is having with a horse. A massive thank you to Martin I can now actually sleep at night. Lisa, Chestnut Mare, Ramsbottom.

Take care when sending horses away to be broken
Keep away from Numptys
( cowboys )
Me and my partner came across a stunning thoroughbred part arab filly whilst on a transport job in Aberdeen.
We bought her between us there and then. She had been living on the bleak coast of Ellon completely unhand-led.
When we came to load her me and the owner linked hands and she was in calmly.
She traveled all the way to Lancashire calmly and quietly, where I kept her for a few months before selling her to a friend.
In the time I kept her I found her to be a filly of pleasant, kind nature, She loved being handled and learned quickly.
My friend who bought the mare fell in love with her straight away. She is an experienced horse owner and very good at rearing youngsters.
I visited the mare in her new home several times, she was very happy and loved with no change in behaviour.
My friend spent the next two years building a bond with the mare becoming more and more excited about riding her.
What could possibly go wrong. I received a phone call from a very distraught owner, Her pride and joy had been away for THREE!! weeks and was coming back to her branded unrideable and dangerous. I struggled to digest the information being given to me and my friend was
unconsolable for days as the people had convinced her that the mare was unbreakable. But they made a fatal mistake by video recording a small piece of there bad work, which was enough for me to write this testimonial. The mare was out of control on a lunge rein in the middle of a school
with a dummy attached constantly banging from neck to rump. They told my friend this was the last resort and if they kept the mare twelve months she would still be the same.
We will never know the rest of the f*** ups they made with this unspoiled mare.
When the mare came home my friend did not know what to do, It took a month for the mare to come back to her old self, then a friend of hers offered to help.
She took it steady and within weeks I have seen a video of the mare walking calmly down a road with a rider on. ( Good work Becky )
This testimonial is aimed to make people think very carefully before sending ponies and horses away to be broken.
Choose someone professional who is proven to have consistent good results over many years and who treats horses as individuals. The moral of this story is do not send your horses or ponies to numptys ( cowboys ).

Transportation of gelding from Rochdale to Sheffield
Just a quick note to thankyou for the exceptional service I recieved from yourself today in the transportation of my gelding to Sheffield, where he was travelling on loan. The whole process was made much easier thanks to your reasuring attitude and obvious knowledge in the business. I greatly appreciated the phone calls to update me on monty's status whilst travelling, and after he was dropped off, this set my mind to rest no end, as you can appreciate, at such a stressful time. Thanks once again, I will definately be keeping your details for any future transportation needs, and will also recommend you to friends.

Transportation from Stockport to Macclesfield
Hi Martin,
Please find a testimonial for your website. You have made a huge, huge difference not only to Paddy and the start of his new life with us at home, but also to me, Martin. There has been a fundamental shift in my perspective of Paddy and my abilities. So my confidence handling him is growing by the day. Thank you so much Martin, we will never forget the day Paddy came home.
Moving Paddy
Ever since I bought Paddy a year ago, there has always been a real worry that if we ever had to move him, we would really struggle loading him as his previous owner had a difficult time loading him in the past. We had a stroke of luck and bought a house with three acres at a fantastic price at auction. We could have Paddy at home with us, but we had to get him here first! I spent a long time looking for the right person to move Paddy and boy did I find him. The only trouble was, MRD Transport had moved to Hereford! This did not deter Martin, though. He not only drove up to Macclesfield, he had just come out of hospital after an operation, and had the dressings to prove it! He hadn't wanted to let us down, bless him.
Martin was absolutely amazing with Paddy, to the point Paddy was taking himself on and off the wagon, and loving every minute.
Martin turned a day I was dreading into a memorable day, we will never forget it. Thank you Martin, you taught us not only how to load a horse, but how to have fun doing it. We cannot recommend you enough.
p.s. mark just loves your top twenty playlist songs on your testimonials on the website. Great choice of hits, took us down memory lane. Cleverly done.
